ファッションのための データサイエンス

もともと、オンラインショッピングは着心地やサイズに左右されるファッションアイテムではなく、電化製品などの標準化しやすい製品を購入するためにつくられたものです。

この20年間でその構造に大きな変化は起きていません。様々なファッションアイテムをオンラインで購入することができる現在でも、商品ページにあるのは必要最低限の情報と購入ボタンだけ。ECユーザー体験はないがしろにされてきたのです。

そんなファッションECの現状を見直した時に、私たちが注目したのがデータの活用です。データ収集に力を入れているブランドやアパレル企業は多くありましたが、集めたデータを生かしてそれをユーザー体験につなげられていなかったのです。

これこそが、私たちが解決すべき課題でした。

Andreas Ueno-Olausson

Andreas Ueno-Olausson

Andreas combines experience from leading technology teams in Asia with a global management consulting background. After serving in the North East Asia business development division of global tech giant Ericsson, he went on to help drive the strategic Asian market expansion of Swedish companies such as Zound Industries and Spotify during his tenure at Business Sweden. Upon propelling Virtusize to become the standard for size and fit within online fashion in Japan, Andreas was named one of Forbes Japan’s “Top 200 Superstar Entrepreneurs” in 2019.

Hengyu Long

Hengyu Long

Hengyu started off as a core developer at Rakuten, where he was responsible for building "Rakuten Global Market". He then went on to excel as a product manager at UnionPay before joining Virtusize in 2017 as a backend engineer. Over the years, he has taken charge of building and managing their global product database, which has been a critical component of the company's success.

Additionally, Hengyu has been working on developing an analytics system to visualize user interaction data. He has also been managing Virtusize's global backend development team, ensuring that both the team and the system run smoothly and efficiently.

When Hengyu is not at work, he spends time playing soccer with his son. They also make music together as part of a father-son band.

Born in France, Bacher started his career as a Software Engineer in the development team of an automated car carrier system used by a leading domestic shipping company. Afterwards, he acted as a Tech Lead and CTO at various Japanese companies in diverse fields, including unified management systems for vacation rentals and hotel operations, as well as marketing analysis tools based on data science. In these roles, he was responsible for managing teams of engineers and overseeing the development of innovative software solutions tailored to each company's specific needs.

At Virtusize, he brought his expertise to contribute to the development of multinational IT engineers. He leveraged his versatile language skills in Japanese, English, and French. As a technology enthusiast dedicated to staying up-to-date with the latest advancements, he tackled tasks ranging from frontend to backend development, ensuring that Virtusize's platform remained cutting-edge.

Inga Silkworth

Inga Silkworth
Head of Data Science

Inga began her career as an experimental particle physicist. She spent four years analyzing proton collision data from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), searching for signatures of the Higgs boson. At the LHC, she also developed software that had to quickly decide which collisions to discard and which ones to send to storage, all in under 200 milliseconds.

After completing her PhD, Inga worked as a data scientist in New York City. There, she built algorithms for an advanced ad-trading platform used in more than 40 markets. She then moved to Tokyo and started working at Virtusize, where she currently leads a team of data scientists in creating optimal solutions for online fashion shopping.

Tomoyuki Nakamura

Tomoyuki has an impressive track record of working in the fashion e-commerce industry. He started his career at BUYMA, a domestic fashion e-commerce company, where he served as an MD. During his tenure, he contributed to the company's growth by employing data analysis to develop new features and strategic plans. His work helped the company improve its customer experience and increase sales.

After his time at BUYMA, Tomoyuki joined YOOX as a store manager for the Japanese market. In this role, he collaborated closely with the headquarters to maximize sales in the Japan region. His expertise in fashion e-commerce encompasses various critical responsibilities, including marketing, CRM strategies, localization, and product development.

すべてはファッションのために

Virtusizeは、ファッションへの情熱を持つ仲間たちと共に、スウェーデンで設立されました。ファッションECが登場した当初、指先一つで世界中のファッションアイテムを買える新しい技術に人々は心を躍らせました。限りない商品の選択肢を目の当たりにする一方で、そこには煩わしさもありました。サイズを迷いながら注文し、やっと届いた服を着てみたらがっかり…私たちは解決策を模索し始めました。そこで着目したのが、データの活用です。商品情報を収集し、服のイメージに採寸データを重ね合わせることで、全くあたらしいファッションアイテムの検索方法をつくることができないか?そこがすべての始まりでした。オンラインで服を選ぶときの最大の課題は「自分に合うサイズ感をみつける」こと。まず、最初に解決すべきものはこれだと確信していました。そこで、世界有数のパターンメーカーやECサイトに協力を仰ぎ、Swedish School of TextilesやAcne Studiosのような初期のクライアントと共同研究に取り組みました。その後、アジア市場におけるVirtusizeの需要は大きく増加。私たちは、2018年に本社を東京に移し、開発者やデザイナー、データ科学者を有するチームと共に成長を続けています。
